Action Research on Cooperatives’ practices at Ardaita College

F&S has been involved in the Nuffic’s Niche project supporting Ardaita College in different areas, including curriculum development and gender mainstreaming.

As part of the project, teachers of Ardaita College are conducting three Action Researches on existing trends of cooperatives. The focus area of their researches are gender, accountancy, and marketing practices of cooperatives. A scholar of applied science from Aeres University of the Netherlands, Professor Frank de Jong, in collaboration with F&S staffs in Addis, has been supporting the teachers on their researches since 2017. Our role in this particular action was helping the teacher-researchers with data collection, providing them digital data collection tools and related techniques.

Last week, we were in Ardaita with Professor Frank working with the teachers on data analysis and documentations.

Internal Learning: Product Development

Today, we are having an internal learning workshop where all our consultants presented to further enhance our Products offered through our Business Development services. And Victor Van Der Linden and F&S General Manager led the workshop.

Our Role in the Linking and Learning Component of FSRE Fund

F&S Ethiopia has an important role in the Linking and Learning component of the FSRE Innovation Fund. The program was financed by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ethiopia.

And while ICCO Cooperation manages the fund, AgriProFocus Ethiopia, hosted in Ethiopia by F&S, runs the linking and learning part of the program. Hence, our consultants took the lead role in providing trainings and coaching services for the fund winners, by also organizing networking events.

Read this interesting story entitled “Beyond the usual Funding” written by our consultant Teklemariam Awoke and featured on the Food Security platform of the embassy.

Internal Learning: Market System Development

Jochem Schneemann, from Fair and Sustainable Consulting in the Netherlands, was here in Addis to further coach our consultants and

invited partners about the Market System Development (MSD) approach. The event is part of the continuous internal learning trend in F&S Ethiopia. In parallel, our partners from different NGOs were invited to be introduced and updated on the MSD approach.
